People Skills triumph

Survey Shows Interpersonal Skills Can Trump Technical Knowledge in Job Search and Job success.

A recent survey developed by Accountemps, asked 1400 CFOs "If two candidates interviewing for an accounting or finance position had similar skills, which one of the following additional qualifications would you find most valuable?"
31 percent of chief financial officers said applicants' people skills would tip the balance over such attributes as software proficiency. This is up significantly from five years ago when interpersonal skills were cited by only 1 percent of respondents.

And I'd suggest that what is true for accountancy professionals in the USA, is true for almost all positions and professions around the globe. ‘People skills’, the ability to ‘get along with each other’, to disagree with respect, to challenge ideas assertively, and collaborate for the greater good and greater gains is even more key to success in 2010.

What will you do today to polish your people skills?
Smile more and have a great day.
Yvonne

  1. Only through people skills a person can present himself the knowledge and experience he has to win in any situations and without people skills his whole knowledge & experience goes unnoticed.
